Dear Friends and sponsors of this inspiring forum,

I have been invited to attend training in dental equipment from a company called Planmeca in Finland Helsinki, this training takes place from 30th Sept to 10th Oct 2008.
Iam humbly requesting well wishers who can help me such that i can attend this training i basically require 1700GBP to cover my ticket and ground costs.
This training will be very useful to my work and i would be training also other technicians here in Uganda, i will be very gratefull for your kind assistance.

Best Regards
Roman

I would suggest that if Planmeca have invited you to attend this training, that they will pay for your flight ticket and hotel costs.

Then I would tell them that you won't be attending due to the cost. It is normal for the company to pay for the training and under unusual circumstances then your hospital would pay any other costs not covered by the company, however, I appreciate that you would probably be unable to do this in Uganda.

Well the company invites technicians who are ready to meet such costs like air fares, however this training my hospital also says they are not ready to sponsor me thats why i brought it up if there some well wishers to come to my rescue, otherwise i have saved some little money 500GBP, so if i get 1200GBP then i would be attending this training.

I think you will be very lucky to get any other company or organisation to sponsor you as they will have to show a benefit of some kind.

OK, Roman ... do you have this equipment at the hospital where you work, or do you work for a company servicing this (and other) equipment ... or what? Why do you need this training, or do you just fancy some cooler weather for a while? What's the story, Mate?

Why am I taking this line? Well, for example, I was just the other day offered a seat on a field trip to service clinics in Nicaragua ... as long as I can raise £ 1,300 to fund my own expenses! I believe the phrase goes something like "someone is taking the p*ss"!

With the best will in the world, if people want kit to be fixed, they have to stump up the flippin' wonga! Otherwise, you end up simply buying work - and where's the sense in that? And I should know, as it seems (feels) like I'm the world's expert in doing just that! smile

Hi Roman

I believe a company called Capital Medical could train you on Planmeca dental equipment there in the UK, their number is 01299 250830. It may be worth obtaining a price from them.

Is someone from Hartlebury going to fly out to Uganda, then? I believe that Roman's problem is lack of funding to travel overseas! smile

I don't think the costs would be be as high, and cheaper flights maybe avaiable with flexibility on traing dates.
