I am beginning to learn some of the conversational French and hopefully more. And am I mistaken? PS: how's your Arabic?

When you spend a year or so in Morocco - you either speak Mahgrebi or French... or go hungry. Very little English is spoken there (or at least when I was there). I hadn't spoken French since 'O' level - it was a real crash course. BTW - Mumtaz! Although, I don't read or write

I know Jesse well and he speaks better English than many British people I know. Hey Jesse! Hope all the family are well Hey thanks Huw. This forum is great and yeah my family are all ok. We just moved to a new house a 4 bedroom 2 car garage here in Ottawa (South). Must worked hard to pay for it!! it's Ok the kids are all grown up. Regards to your wife and John Snadham as well. Cheers

For me (at any rate) "total immersion" due to "needs must" has always produced good results, be it with "street Arabic", computer programming, problems with electronics ... or, indeed, learning to swim (long time ago now). Although, I must admit that the simple ability to point usually worked quite well on the streets of Tatleeth, Onaiza, downtown Hofuf, and in the souks of Khamis Mushayt, Najran et al. Anyone for dajaj?

Yeah youre right, I originally from the Philippines and had worked in Middle East (Qatar and Saudi Arabia) for 20 years almost and now here in Canada for 8 years. I can still relate to speaking Arabic and here Ottawa, Ontario, there were still a good percentage of Arabic speaking locals now here, mostly from Lebanon, Morrocco and Syria. As you can expect we have Arabic Restaurant offering, Shawarma's Cheers

Again youre right we are getting older, but still I am OK don't have grey hair yet!
As for Canada, it's a great place to live, specially our city , Ottawa has been voted this year, the best city in all of Canada. Clean, beautiful place, low crime rate, cheap housing and lot's of activities ( cultural events, sports, biking, jogging, apple/strawberries picking) The drawback is winter, lot's of snow to shovel your garage. No complain we have 4 seasons, 4 months of winter is that much, then Spring, Summer and Fall.
