We are in the final stages of developing a new NIBP simulator with build-in manufacture specific simulation data. For this we are interested in the top 10 NIBP simulators used in the UK
and beyond)

Therefore, I would appreciate your input to ensure our new NIBP simulator will be accurate across a large variety of brands / models. If you are interested in providing your most commonly used NIBP monitors (or OEM modules), please email me outside this forum at johnb@seaward.co.uk

FYI, below is a link to the new product available November 2008.

BP-SIM

Can we assume that you've already got some of arrangement with the NIBP monitor manufacturers, John?

So, what are you asking for here ... old monitors, popular, but no longer in production? How can hospitals spare them? Are you buying them, or what? Or are you just asking which ones should be on the list of the "top ten"?

Can you work out the "O-curve" of a given NIBP monitor from just one example of the unit ... surely not? smile

You already claim you meet this in your features:

"Manufacturer O-curves to ensure accurate simulations across a wide range of different brands and models."

- the product is launching in November and you are asking for this information late August.

I don't understand how this has been left so late?
Why was this research not done early doors?

This information is fundamental, puzzles me.

JB,

How about your Rigel 288 Electrical Safety Analyser? The last time you were in Singapore and that was the last I heard of you. We requested a trial but there wasn't any action by your distributor here and now you are getting input for NIBP used in the various hospital in UK and beyond.

Make the impossible POSSIBLE. I know we all can and it is the wisdom to distinguish one from the other.

Hi JohnBhoy,

We have a number of monitors ourselves, have links with manufacturers and we use default simulations (like most simulators on the market). Therefore, the product is being demoed at the moment to obtain further feedback (as is normal during field trials). The product is international therefore we have designed the product to be versatile and upgradeable. The feedback from this forum will allow us to finetune development and provide monitor or brand specific simulations. So all input (including ebme / clinical engineers, manufacturers etc) is welcome.
Thanks

Hi Geoff
Thanks for your response. The top 10 list would give us an idea of where to put our efforts. Based on the list we can find routes to obtain the O-curve data. Due to the relationships we have with manufacturers and hospitals we hope to obtain as much information as possible. The monitor top 10 will hopefully reflect what is most popular / widely used in the UK. Similar trials are underway in Europe and beyond. This is not a process we aim to finish in November but an ongoing development process.

regards,

John

So, just to be clear then, John ... initially, you're trying to establish the top ten list (in terms of quantity, popularity, or population) of NIBP monitors in UK hospitals, and hospitals overseas? smile

Geoff we are trying to ensure that the list of monitors that we are incorporating in the BP-SIM is still in line whith what is currently used on the market. We assume models / brand have moved along hence we are looking for up to date information. Based on this we can fine tune the firmware (hardware is complete) which can be uploaded by users through email / websites. This is merely a phase in the ongoing development. I am hoping this forum would leant itself for such research.
many thanks
John
