Agreed! EST is necessary! This is a golden rule! But again is it necessary to record ALL the results or have a simple EST pass/fail on the service sheet? We treat our lab equipment as PAT only (mainly because it is!) For PAT we just record Pass/Fail! All our accreditors including CAPS and JCI accept this record! Would you say this is acceptable for Medical Equipment?

Its worth bearing in mind that i myself and i suspect many of you have witnessed equipment in lethal condition happily pass EST with flying colours, one item had actually gave a nurse an electric shock but still sailed through EST. What these occurrences boil down to is good old physical inspection, can't beat it. With this in mind, i don't see the point in comparing previous EST's. I do however agree that EST is still necessary as it does test the "unseen" i.e. the internal electrical safety of the device. I think a simple pass / fail is all that need be recorded on the service report. Personally i staple the printout to the sheet where as others discard it which seems a waste.

Go ahead Geoff, I've modified the permissions to allow polls in topic responses (as opposed to only at creation of the topic).

OK, cheers for that.

Perhaps we had better wait first for poll suggestions from the Three (or so) Wise Men! smile

Patience, young Eddie, patience! At least wait until I've been across the road for a bacon sandwich, and a cup of tea. Come to think of it, I might even pick up a turkey sandwich ... I have to make an effort to enter into the spirit of things, you know! wink
