When I say "you" here, I don't mean
you as in Eddie, I mean
you as in "the Tech". That is, the general case (as always).
It means lay out clear, sensible Policies and Procedures, then ensure that you actually carry them out (not sure what that would mean in Arabic)! Policies must be "do-able", not window dressing, or pie (pi?) in the sky!
It could also be paraphrased as
"you may be able to talk the talk, but you also need to be able to walk the walk"! As the piece at the link mentions, many techs seem to regard PM as mere
drudgery. I've never felt that way myself, but there it is. Again, what matters are results (oh yes, even
EST results).
I would say that this rule is more golden than your earlier Golden Rule (that EST is necessary), as overall Policies and Procedures must take precedence, surely. The
Golden Golden Rule! Only one Golden Rule allowed, I'm afraid (by definition) ... the Midas Doctrine? Maybe we need another poll to settle that one (that is, "what is the biomed Golden Rule")?
First Things First. Walk before you Run. Horse before the Cart. Ducks in a Row. No Partridge without the Peartree!
"It's easy to be a starter,
But are you a sticker too?
It's easy to begin a job;
But harder to see it through."... "sticker PM"? Ha, ha (glancing at the time, better make that "Ho, ho, ho")!
