Thanks for your replys guys. As karl says, all the correct procedures are in place i.e. expiry dates etc but I was trying to save about £35 per unit by doing it in house and as we have hundreds on this site, thats a big saving even taking into account the cost of the correct tools.

Many Thanks,

Dave.

1) See earlier post.
2) Repeat. smile

No, Yoda was a wise old dude. But if the old saw about "learning by your mistakes" was true, then I'd be a genius believe me! But, what to do? Just got to keep on keeping on.

And, surely you've heard ... no-one "fails" these days in Modern Britain! The word has been (what's that word? ...) expunged from the lexicon.

Eastwood Park

Does anyone remember the name of that pub about a mile or so down that country lane! Also I remember a HM Womens institute (Hotel) near by!

Do you mean the "Huntsman"? smile

And is the "country lane" you have in mind the one passed HMP Eastwood Park? Previously a Young Offenders' Unit, and now, I believe, a holiday camp for 360 women prisoners. Hardly Women's Institute material, though, unfortunately. Not much "Jam and Jerusalem" there, I wouldn't have thought. frown

Back on hoses.
When you have made one you need to check it on an "anti-confusion" jig.

They are a set of connection blocks with the appropriate NIST on one end and the Schrader on the other.
This makes sure you have picked up the right bits from the connectors box and not put air on one end and oxygen on the other for example.

My spelling is not bad. I am typing this on a Medigenic keyboard and I blame that for all my typos.

Yes, that's all part of the kit. All is listed and explained on the course at Eastwood Park (or Falfield, if you prefer). If I still had my course notes to hand, I could even offer you the supplier from whom all this good kit may be purchased! Perhaps someone else can provide those details? smile

if you go to the previuos mentioned suppliers you should be able to get both the male & fmale parts you want to make up a test kit.
if you really want to you can then make up a nice block with all the bits in a circle as per the one desplayed in the standard alternatively we just have them in a foam lined box in little cutouts labelled with the corrrect gas type.
Dont forget to test the pressure / leak as well as the indexing.
You ca also get heat shrink with the correct colour and name of gas written on it. Makes the job look a bit tidier.
