I've recently come across this company http://www.tagmedical.co.uk/ who have taken over the work in one of my old haunts.

Has anyone crossed paths with companies like this one before?

Even though I do say so myself, my old haunt has lost a good service.

Cheers
Mark

Yes Mark, We came across a similar company a few years ago before we started to service gp's equipment. They made a number of claims such as not repairing equipment, just failing it if necessary, so the gp would still have to organise his own repairs. I phoned them and asked them what they could check and ran through few a common items such as sphygs. I stopped when they asked what a Dinamap was! At least here, we can check, calibrate and repair as necessary. Here, we even get gp's asking what model they should purchase. You cannot beat the comprehensive package we provide. I cannot remember the name of the company.

Faceless? Not really. Good luck to them.

What's up Mark ... can't handle a bit of competition? smile

PS: I had better make it clear I have no connection with TAG Medical! But I only say that as they can't seem to spell the word maintaining.

Geoff,

We just have to make sure that we have a good business model - clearly written Service Level Agreements(SLA's)which are accurately priced and dedicated technician(s) for the 'private jobs'. If, we choose to compete in this market.

Mind you, the competition may be healthy for us. We are a highly trained work force. We lack business acumen - up to now, we haven't needed any.

We need to be able to adapt to the new 'market place'.

Cheers
Mark

Here in York we used to do work for GP's and some nursing homes but had to stop as we were not covered under the Trust's liability insurance. We are ok for work within the NHS but GP's were seen as separate private businesses. It's still a bit of a grey area between NHS Tusts as they are separate legal entities as servicing equipment is not part of the Trust's core business.-Anyone within NHS hospitals doing work for GP's might want to check this out.
