Neil Porter Hero Joined: Feb 2009 Posts: 1,909 Likes: 18 London, UK	Why not just bar code the item and then all the relevant information will be available instead of putting different labels from from different departments, still need class I & II then this can be either colour coded with the bar code or printed on the bar code label itself, the easiest and best way forward for inventories and PPM scheduling.

In which case, I envy you. Meanwhile, the last thing that Nozza wants is yet another label, I should imagine. Regarding "the easiest and best way ..." etc., well I reckon I've seen 'em all. There is no ideal way, except to say that whatever the client (owner, Ministry etc.) wants is usually the one to go along with. Otherwise (as I always advise) - keep it as simple as possible. And "just" barcoding the equipment inventory at a typical NHS hospital is not so simple as it may sound! If you don't inspect ... don't expect.

Neil Porter Hero Joined: Feb 2009 Posts: 1,909 Likes: 18 London, UK	Still in Jeddah and as busy as ever, I have looked into the bar coding very seriously and it is easy, the main problem is getting the different departments to agree on a single platform, but if you use an excel spead shhet for your data and as we have fluke instruments in the workshop it all ties in quite nicely. PS sorry for being off the beaten track for so long.
