Hi all,

Any body who has got a list of medical equipment that would found in a hospital per department, like Theatre, Lab, Eye, Dental , Maternity, Radiology, etc.

i have checked the thread, well for my case i need to present this list of medical equipment to some charity organisation, they want to donate a range of equipment so the y did request for it.

In my experience of dealing with donating equipment, I have found that it is best for the end-user(s) to come up with a "wish list" of their own. That is, the exercise needs to be one of "pull", not "push".

That way they ultimately end up with "ownership" of the equipment, rather than just a sense of receiving hand-outs. Human psychology comes into play here. People need help, not dependency.

I have also found that a token payment from the recipient (of the donated equipment), however small, also reinforces the feeling of "pride of ownership". If that doesn't happen, in a few years (or even months) you may well find yet another pile of junked equipment at the back of the hospital!

One charity group I know gets the recipient to either arrange transportation, or meet its cost, for example.

Without disclosing the name of your charitable donor (unless, of course, you wish to), are you aware of what their motives are? That is, why do they wish to donate?

New equipment, used equipment, religious fervour ... market penetration?

Actually i do not work for any hospital apparently, i only happen to be contracted to work in most of the mission/faith based hospitals and they are really in a sorry state, well i felt i should get them various contacts of donors who can assist get them some equipment, we have strict regulations and laws in my Country that govern donated medical equipment, even if we mat be so hungry but we are strict recepients, we accept something that conforms to our requirements, its like sending a machine which uses 110V when in Uganda we use 240V.

Meanwhile, is Neil's list any use? I may be able to assist (list-wise), depending upon what it is you actually want doing (sorry, Mate, I can only work with specifics ... size of hospital, how many theatres, and stuff like that). PM me if you like.

He has promised to send it but you can also send me your list, i basically want departments like, Laboratory, Eye, Radiology,Theatre,Physiotherapy,Orthopedic,Pathology. IVF department.etc

What about room planning and looking at the needs of the trust and in particular the end users and ask them.
