Were you aware that the Managing Director (David Stow) and Technical Director (Dave Mulvey)of Artemis, were previously of S&W (Vickers also). They were the ones that bought Artemis! Some good experience behind them!

Meanwhile, the Mindray VS-800 looks like a nice little "SPOT tester". Anyone got any of these? Any good?

HI Geoff We are using the VS-800 in various departments throughout Guy's & ST Thomas.
As you say, A fantastic spot check machine. The main likes from all staff are that you can press one button to flit between Adult, Paed and Neonate modes. A fairly robust machine, and we got them at an amazing price.
All the training is Free of Charge and is on-site.

Thanks for that. Myself, I'm always happy to "spread the word" when kit is well-designed, up to the job, and sensibly priced. Let's hope that this particular brand always remains like that.

Hi All, We at Southwest Medical are agents for Mindray veterinary monitors (basically the same unit with veterinary specific software etc). We have found them to be robust and reliable and at a price that cant be beaten! As a company the are extremely helpful and nothing is ever too much trouble. As agents we do have some bias, but I would recommend anyone trialing the kit to see for yourself. Let me know if you need any contact details etc,
Best regards to all Ed Bennett Southwest Medical Ltd Bristol

We have a few Mindray VS-800's in our hospital too and we have had no problems apart from damage to the SpO2 connector. It's uses a masimo extension lead and we've had a few where the plastic casing of the ext lead has snapped, it sticks out about 4cm from the monitor so is a prime source of damage. I do feel that it is the staff mis-treating it though rather than a design fault.

Hi All - I met with our rep (Artemis/Mindray) from Central London, He tells me that Mindray have announced the acquisition of the patient monitoring division of Datascope. Most of you will be aware that Datascope's product line (excluding the Duo and Trio which are produced for them by Mindray) - the Passport was first introduced in 1992! He gave me these links... http://dscp.client.shareholder.com/releasedetail.cfm?ReleaseID=298513http://phx.corporate-ir.net/phoenix.zhtm...6&highlightHope this helps! On another note; We have just purchased a load of Artemis/Mindray Monitors - I would highly recommend them. If anyone would like the rep's contact details, Please contact me.

I'd be a wee bit hesitant in recommending melamine laced monitors, MagicMedicMan. From what I saw in a recent trial, the arrhythmia algorithm in mindray is completely off, and you can accidentally start NIBP calibration in monitoring mode! Add to that the poorly designed menus complete with spelling and grammar mistakes - you have a liability suite waiting to happen.
Go for Philips or GE. They are much more expensive, but the quality is so much better.
Cheers, Runesmith

Go for Spacelabs, cheaper than Philips and GE and much more flexible.
