Of course it's the point!
We can't sell them cheaper than we buy them.

Jesse,

How about attaching the probe to the extension cable?
Cord used for making wiring looms is strong small and easily available and can be cut if necessary but it does make people stop and think.

It has saved many Graseby MS26 battery covers from being lost in my limited use of it.

A few months back, we had "auditioned" a compatible cable from Datascope Trio with Masimo to a Nellcor SpO2 endpoint.

Results:
1. The compatible cable can accept only certain sensors, mostly disposable. Doesnt work with our current DS100s.
2. It takes time for the waveform to appear on screen (lag)compared to using the original cables.

Am thinking of getting several pieces for backup purposes as we have different distributors for Datascope and Masimo in our part of the world and original spare parts and accessories are difficult to come by.

Our local supplier gets his bulk supply from same company in Korea. Their contact in the company is Mr. Bruce Lee.

A "friend" of mine in the pub has mentioned that (when he gets time) he is planning to collect up as many old pulse oximeter probes, leads, and all the rest that he can find with a view to "reverse engineering" a cheap solution to the lack of standardisation in SpO2 "technology", once and for all.

If his project ever sees the light of day (and, it must be said, other "genius ideas" still remain firmly on the back burner, whilst the Guinness continues to get consumed), I'm hoping that he will publish full details on the web, for the whole world to have and to hold (or at least, see and admire). No more gouging* then, we hope. smile

*Price gouging is a pejorative term for a seller pricing much higher than is considered reasonable or fair, often well above the market price when no alternative is available (as is sometimes the case with medical equipment, especially as we are now increasingly restricted to a gang of "Big Three" or so global manufacturers, not to mention the inflated price mark-ups by well entrenched so-called "local agents" [aka "middle men"]. Meanwhile, the sick and the needy continue to suffer, usually in silence, as tradition expects and requires).

If you don't inspect ... don't expect.

Another question regarding this unit, we are having issues on gaining batteries for these. Euroenergy do not supply them, and GE do at £90 each!

Does anyone know of another supplier or cheaper alternative?

info is :- 6v 3.3ah

thanks

We have been using Medgraphics 6v 3.5ah costing less than £10 with no problems.
