Once there is a system in place for application training, clinical users need to understand what is going to happen when they turn here, twist there and so on.

Yes, that's why they all have university degrees ... to make sure they can read!

I never met anyone that could fail manufacturer training, but....
I met a lot of tech. that don't love their job. That's the point, because if you love your job everything is easier,but if you don't... you can fail the manufacturer training.

What's the point of being involved in biomed if you don't love it? After all, there are more highly paid situations available for clued-up technicians!

In fact (based upon my many years of observing biomed techs - good, and the other variety - in action), I would say that any biomed tech who doesn't love the job should be shown the door!

That is, such people can be (and often are) a liability rather than an asset.

"Biomed ... love it, or leave it"!

Going back to what I said earlier, as you spend most of your time/life at 'work' you should be happy, if you are not, then quit and find a place of employment that you will be happy at.

On the other hand, if you are rich (like you must be by now, Neil, surely) you can just quit and do as you damned well please!

Rich or not, I have made a promise to honour commitments over the next couple of years and this I will do, then I will quit, besides I am very happy with my work, today was spent dismantling an x-ray suite (15 years young) very physical work but enjoyable, tomorrow maybe spent in the office who knows. Not many of my days are planned and that's what makes it interesting.

Of course, my own method (honed to perfection over the passing years) is somewhat different. With income goals of "just enough to be able to carry on", I am poor, but do as I damned well please!
