I am looking guidelines /specification / standards for cardiac telemetry systems. A new facility is being constructed for the CCU and we are about to enter the procurement phase for equipment. Any advice or direction would be welcome !

Yes, it can get a bit lonely on here on certain days (and "after hours", as it were). Different time zones, different work days, different work (and sleeping) patterns!

But you have to realise, Neil, that this forum is populated in the main by people tirelessly working away in the British National Health Service.

I am aware (thanks to correspondence from overseas) that some "outsiders", and indeed those who, like yourself, reside outside this Sceptred Isle, imagine that the site is actually run (not only for the benefit of the NHS) but actually by the NHS!

None of the above is actually the case, as Huw can no doubt confirm (and, indeed, has done from time to time). It's the name is it not (that is, ebme)?

Back on subject, will someone offer a different solution, as with telemetry the guidelines are distance between aerials, amount of, depending on floor space, transmitters receivers depending on amount of patients etc, that's why it is easier to make recommendations when you have the floor plan.

Don't worry overly much there, Neil ... I'm sure that the prospective vendors will be only too happy to advise Micheal.

Neal apologies for the delay in my reply , I have a drawing of the floor plan if you would like to see it how best to send it to you ?
Specifically I am looking at wireless tech verus UHF . Our new wing will have a wireless network and IT want to put the telemetry system on that. I feel it show be on an isolated system, does anyone know if there are guidelines on this ?

We had a new system installed last year. As far as I'm aware we took advice from the manufacturers. We ended up with G.E. They carried out coverage tests and designed the layout of of the antenna system, all we had to do was provide plans of the unit and decide the maximum range for patient movement. In our case it included a stairwell that the Physio's use to torture the patients back to fitness.
Our unit comprises of two wards, an 8- bed CCU and a 7- bed HDU'ish ward (F7). Each ward has its own server for the central station and there are 6 telemetry units which can be allocated to either ward as required.
