All IABP machines are designed for ambulance transportation. In addition, most of them have an external battery pack for these scenarios and the internal battery should not be relied upon. Internal battery should be used for transportation within the hospital.

And what about provision for powering off the ambulance vehicle or aircraft electrical system, as is the case with (some, most?) transport incubators? smile

Will there be a risk of stalling the vehicle in the process. Better not. An external battery may be recommended.

When transferring patients in ambulances you could use a DC-AC inverter; CPC do a range of them in the UK. Powered from the Ambulance's 12v socket (a bit like a cigar lighter but slightly smaller diameter end) and fused it gives a mains supply enabling the equipment to work without depleting the internal battery.

I have seen some nebulizers and suction units that are designed to work from a vehicle’s 12V supply that have a stepped adapter for use in a car or ambulance.

Er ... no (not if the vehicle is properly engineered)!

I'm assuming that you have reasonably modern ambulances (and, for that matter, helicopters) out there in Singapore!

What do you do when transferring transport incubators? smile

Of course it is modern and new

We have no experience in transporting incubators as paeds and neonates are specially treated in another hospital.

In that case I can only suggest that you take a look inside a typical ambulance vehicle, see what facilities are available to power your equipment, and make any adaptions found to be necessary. smile

PS: it would appear that some people have lived very sheltered lives, in the biomed sense!
