Hi there , Does anyone know a good company to carry out general servicing of say 'dental chairs and hand pieces etc'. I have a spec for the contract and just need a name or company to follow. I have searched the net and found nothing and now have alot of work for a company or person to look into. Contracts can be raised but lets see.

Ian Roberts at BCAS may be able to help. He would be closest to where you are.

But you could also try Rob Strange at Avensys.

Or, there again, there's always my Old Mate Colin Maloney at METS. Colin does dental servicing all over the UK (even out on the Scottish Islands). I've sent the telephone number and email address by PM. smile

It looks like Ream has a limited range.

Also, do they actually carry out dental servicing? They appear to be more sales oriented (specialising in the supply and repair of surgical instruments etc.), rather than a servicing company per se. smile

Sort of on the same subject..........

does anyone know of a forum which concentrates on dental equipment repairs? I have had a bit of a look on the web but could not find anything of any "quality".

Ta, Dave

It could be this one if you want to open a few threads!

As you may recall, in the UK dental servicing is generally carried out by Servicing Companies, and often small ones at that! That is, rather than NHS biomeds.

The same can certainly be said about veterinary hospitals and practices (who, as may be imagined, use a lot of "ex-medical" equipment, in the main).

I agree that it would be nice to see a forum dedicated to each of those areas. But I presume that guys working on kit like that are just too busy ... being on the Dark Side, and all!

What is it you want to know? smile

Various but as yet unknown (or undefined might be a better way of putting it).
We are looking at taking on some dental work so I may have need of manuals, service procedures etc over the coming months but at this point in time can't specify which kit.
Hence the question re a "specialist forum".

Knowing a few "in the trade", as it were, I suspect that another reason for the lack of a forum etc. could be that those old [censored] are too mean to share their (what to their minds is) hard-won knowledge! whistle

Why not go ahead and make your posts here, Dave? Or, if you want a bit more confidentially, we may be in a position to "consult" on the matters to which you allude. In fact, I know some folk who would be happy to come out to Oz and help y'all set it up! smile

PS: an old Mate of mine has built up a dental and x-ray servicing business all across the UK over the last twenty years or so. For a few years now he has wanted to retire (and so he should), but has been unable to find the "right" buyer for his business. If anyone wants to think about having a go (possibly with others, such as myself, giving assistance as necessary), feel free to get in touch. But be clear, I'm thinking in terms of a "younger man" (ie, someone who can expect to put in twenty years or so at it).
