To cover indemnity, you could ask for the requesters certificate of competence before giving advice. Before you ask YES I am joking.

The Drager man says that the part of the self test where the error occurred is very important.

If i was to report a fault to Drager they would want the relevant test number displayed as the error was displayed, and the precise error code.

If Hugo had given me these details then i could hopefully tell him what Drager say that error code means, i don't think this would constitute telling Hugo how to fix the equipment just what the equipment is saying about itself.

@Lee ... hopefully Hugo will get in touch via PM (are you there, Hugo?)

@Neil ... as you must have seen a few times in your career, Certificates of all descriptions are sometimes (apparently) easily arranged.

The equipment we are referring to is classifed as "LIfe Support"

So I believe if someone on the forum did give out incorrect advise or guessed or they themselves had not been formally trained on that particular device discussed. They too could be liable for intervening.

If anyone else knows better please clarify?

We are professional, you are not repairing some TV set in your back yard.

We should be providing "Save and Sound Advice"

It is our duty as professional to work within the guidelines.

I´m sorry guys for provocate discussion.
Well, I go to try describe Julian problems:
First: Machine failed all Autotest only with Air/Oxigen. Autotest only passed with Oxigen.
Second: I change Litium batteries in CIO and Edos pcb´s.
Three: Autotes failed in Step 12 (V27 Safety Test)and appera MV 0 0 0 2 with SV: 0 0 0 0, I find cause,silicon tubing have been blocked.
Four: No more problems with Autotest.Calibration constants tolerance inside.
I have been tested machine for 2 days and after moved machine a The clinical.
So, in the clinical I make Autotest newsly and work for 5 minutes before appear problems again.
Now, I don't know why fail in Step31(lightbarrier) this machine not have this system and previously Lightbarrier was disable. Next, I disable again lightbarrier, Autotest finish fine but in IPPV, PCV or Man/Spont modes not appear pressure lecture (Paw), only INOP. I check Ventilator in Service Mode 2 and applied pressure at two pressure transducers (Paw) and surprise, I have lectures. Of course i compare lectures with Pressure tester certified (PF300 the IMT Medical, do you know?). Pressure transducers Ok.So, I seem with FiO2/Pressure window, pressure mark err4 (pressure during calibration is too high). Only send cal press, now erro is cero and Julian is working Ok. Question. Why fail configuration or cal? In this moment I have Julian in operation, I hope not appear problems again.

Thanks for that update, Hugo. It sounds like you've got things well in hand. I salute you, my friend. smile

Meanwhile ... Umish:- was your rant directed at me personally, or at the forum in general?

Umish, I understand your vision point but I job in repair medical equipment since 10 years.I´m independent. I have trained in Ohmeda systems, SLE High Frequency ventilation (Technical service exclusive for Mexico) and recently We have been waited for IMT Medical representation the BellaVista Ventilators. I have PF300 Flow Analizer and TSI Testr the BC Group.
Drager have been diagnostic previosly this Machine and they say with that is necesari change VentoDos Controller and CIO pcb's, V7 safety valve and V10 Proportional Flow valve ($ 5,000.00 USD). The Clinical bought machine used. What do you think?

Don't worry Hugo we love to argue and it is good to see things from different points of view, sometimes we even agree.

As for the Julian problem we had so many problems over the years, we had them on comprehensive maintenance contract so i can't help you very much.

I'm normally happy if I believe I have done something that I think has genuinely fixed the faulty and the unit in question then passes the manufacturers recommended tests.

I'm not so happy when the unit suddenly starts working again with out me carrying out any action that i can attribute to the repair, when there are several seemingly unrelated problems on the same piece of equipment or where there has been a series of problems which i cannot reproduce.

In these cases I like to run extended tests or to get a second opinion, preferably from the manufacturer.
