Is anyone out there using this device?
If so:
What do you think of this device?
What do your nursing staff think of it?
Have you had any problems?
What has your service from Cardinal Healthcare been like?

Hi BSM Is this a syringe driver or an infusion pump? Haven't come across this one. Service from Cardinal has been OK and response time has been pretty quick.

It's their new volumetric pump.
I believe it's designed to replace the IVAC 598, Gemini and Signature pumps (through various software levels as with the Asena Syringe Drivers).
I also believe that it will be developed to eventually replace the IVAC 572.
We deal with Cardinal Healthcare with regard to their syringe drivers, and their service is good, but I was referring specifically to the service they provide with the Asena GP volumetric pumps.

I've recently seen these pumps, and I don't think they're on UK sale yet. From what I've seen the GP will be a good replacement for the 572 (which will be stopping really soon).

I've been told that there will be a "VP"- Variable Pressure model that will replace the 572. The GP is more similar to the 598 I think. Let's hope it comes out soon!

I've also heard that the replacement for the IVAC 572 will be called the Asena VP. Apparently it's due out some time next year.
The lowest software version of the Asena GP endows it with IVAC 598 functionality, however, the next software version up will give it the same functionality as the Asena GH syringe driver (or so I've been led to believe).
I was just wondering if anyone had any "hands-on" experience with the Asena GP.

Saw the GP last week, the rep wouldn't let it out of his sight. Looks good, feels solid, they have put a lot of thought into it. They have only just got CE marking for it and will be going to market very soon. We have had excellent service/ backup from Alaris. I hope that we continue to get the good service and response from the new company (Cardinal).
