That would most likely depend upon where in the world it is you are talking about, Jandre.

And "holiday work" ... what's that ... working for "pin money"? frown

And here's a little tip, Mate ... I wouldn't say that "keeping faith is old school" ... not when you're hoping to entice techs to do jobs in, shall we say, "far away places with strange sounding names". Blokes need to know that there's at least some hope of back-up (support) if and when it's needed!

However ... the "pay me first" bit is alright! smile

Not to mention:-

1) Visas
2) Insurance
3) Medical repatriation cover
4) Who's tools and test kit? (I'm ****** off with mine "going missing")

... etc., etc.

Plus ... paid by whom, how, and when? And (of course) how much?

Freelance shouldn't also be taken to imply cavalier (aka "dumbass"). As I've mentioned before, the world has become a (more) dangerous place. Either that or I for one have become a bit too old for "adventures".

Actually, thinking about it some more, I still like adventure, but it's the "reckless" bit that doesn't appeal so much these days. Personally, I like things to be properly organised. And experience (some of it sorry) has shown that that means it's me who needs to be the one doing the organising!

How many times (Neil, Tony et al) have we heard promises like:- "no worries - there will be someone to meet you at the airport - guaranteed"! Yeah, sure.

The bottom line here is that if "everything is down to the guy" (that is, the gallant adventurer is expected to fend for himself, and pay his own way), then it's surely a case of a "Big Bucks" per diem! Plus a decent advance (or "mobilisation fee")!

Hopefully, some young buck(s) will be responding to Jandre. smile

... there you are Jandre, I've given you your opening ...

Dammit Tony ... now you've got me feeling all homesick, Mate. smile

Frankly, I can usually handle all that. It's the bit about stone-throwing mobs (and worse ... much worse) that I find (found) a bit ... er, off-putting!

Me too mate, I really loved my Portacabin in the Gravel Pit in Taif.

I was the lucky one I had a tree outside mine to hang my Dobie up in.

Being the sociable amiable type I let the other lads hang theirs on MY Tree F.O.C.

Happy Days

Pay " was,nt too shabby " as the Tin Tanks say, either

There are a few people who post on here who should volunteer, just to see what life is like outside of the NHS.
Never worried about much, hate the cockies though, especially when you have to reach down for the water valve having watched the little ******'s head that way first.

Which one of these would you recommend, Neil:-

1) Azerbaijan
2) DR Congo
3) Equatorial Guinea
4) Ghana
5) Indonesia
6) Kazakhstan

I've never been to any of 'em, so I can't really say much about them. But I do try to keep fairly well up with "world events"!

Come on Tony, it's dhobi.
