1. Don't ever trust a Lifepack 12 battery. Even when new you might find it don't work

2. First thing you do is teach orientally trained nurses how to do a proper 10 Joule test of the same defib so they don't try and deplete the batteries by chasrging it umteenth times to 360J without removing the paddles from the defib. The consequences are dire....

3. Don't argue with Audiometer manufacturers. if they don't want to give you the passcode to change the calibration date then retire it from service and get the customer to buy a trusty old UK made Amplivox unit

4. Forget about fancy gimmicks. FR2 AED's from Philips are yet to be beaten.

5. Siberia is not a very nice place in winter....

6. Kazakhstan girls are by far the most gorgious

7. If you want to be poked with a fun stick then post a freelance topic on EBME.co.uk

8. Forget about big machines. USB Ultrasound probes are here to enlighten us all

9. If you leave your tool wallet in Azerbaijan to make space for the curios in your luggage they will give it back next year you pass by for service

10. H2S gas sucks. and so do the training to survive in H2S season

11. HUET training is cool

12. Rinse your freshly washed clothes on the oil rigs with a little stay-soft. Otherwise you'll be scratching your nether regions from here till kingdom come. (Thank God there aint many ladies on the rigs)

13. Don't go on the piss the night before you fly in a helicopter. The Authorities don't like it much...

14. If you come accross a Russian girl named Nadya, ask her if she's pregnant. My bud Benjamin learned the hard way.... (What do you expect from a German)

15. Don't buy any suction units, ECG's or defibs from Italy.... The Nebulisers are OK though. and O yes... Don't buy your VW ambulances from Germany either... They come half complete and with no manual whatsoever. The French dopplers are also a big NO NO

keeping faith is old school.....

Good stuff, Jandre. Nice to see that you haven't upset (offended ... whatever) too many people, then.

Keep up the good work, take care, and remember to post here again soon. smile

Wouldn't it be nice if Jandre's people were able to get a contract to service the kit in the Ghawar Field (and those surrounding it)? Then I'm sure that a few of us would be falling over ourselves to get out there again.

Although it must surely now be in decline, the Ghawar Field has been (and I believe, still is) the most bountiful oil field the world has ever seen.

OK ... if the idea is to "follow the money" (and that's not such a bad business model, after all) then servicing kit for Oil Companies must surely be the craic. Indeed I seem to recall a (quite) well known UK service provider who started off in such a fashion.

And ... it looks like the Falkland Islands is next on the list for a "big strike"! If anyone wants a bod to fly down there with a view to setting up an office in Port Stanley, I wouldn't mind having a go. Heck, we could also offer our services at the hospital there as well, whilst we're at it. smile

And ... before anyone "objects":- of course Port Stanley is British. It's twinned with Whitby, for Goodness Sake!

If you don't inspect ... don't expect.
