It depends upon they're actually doing, I reckon. If they spend all day sitting on their fat [censored] surfing the web, then maybe that's something to do with it. I regularly put in long hours myself (and have done for many years), but discovered a long time ago that "the secret" is to find enjoyment in what you do, take breaks, and pace yourself. Getting it done sooner ... rather than quicker.

If the "overall population is lazy" ... that's because the leadership is, er, arse. Or, at least, weak. And, as long as the expats get a fair crack ... who cares? Or did you mean immigrants?By own personal beef is that (in the UK), me and all the other tax-payers have to pay for all the corruption, inefficiency, chavs, asylum seekers, "radical preachers", benefit scroungers, futile foreign wars, European diktats ... and all the rest of that [censored].

I like Australia because the immigration is well controlled, it's borders protected. They allow Skilled Migration, I am told it is more difficult to get into compared to Canada and England. Australia wants people who will contribute to the economy, English Language is mandatory ie you have to attend english courses. UK is free for all.

You're fortunate to be there. I envy you. It's one of the very few decent countries left. But be clear that the UK and England are not synonymous. One day (during my lifetime, I hope) us English will take our country back.
