There will always be a need for biomeds in the forces, but i suspect most will eventually be civvies.

This is the one major regret in my life that I never 'got some in'. I meet so many ex-forces types in this job and really envy their life and experiences. But then I do have my AK47, M733, MAC11, Glock19, M92, MK2 Bren, M3 Super 90, 1911, 66mm LAW(x2) and a large and varied wardrobe of steel, canvas, camo and OD to console me!!
I had a chance to join the RAF when I was 16 with lots of 'o' levels, but another, better paid engineering apprenticeship got in the way... Oh well...
...Speaking of Band of Brothers, did anyone know that Jimi Hendrix was a paratrooper in the 101st Airborne?

As for the above the dog handler nice change of career. From snowdrop to techie now that is a change as they used to slag us over paid techies off.
The old urban legend, pi**ed up forces person on way back from pub gets stopped at the main gate by the dog handler and asked to produce his ID. To which the drunkard gets out the ID and shows it to the dog!!!

We have a couple of AK95s in our Renal Unit but I can't find a reference to AK47s any where in the manufacturers catalogue, is this an obsolete dialysis machine???

Well, Vickers used to make both battle tanks and baby incubators, did they not? Not to mention belt fed machine guns, at one time at least. Just as GEC made x-ray equipment as well as (components of) weapons systems!

Would anyone be interested in a 'social' EBME website members day? I am talking about meeting in our own time to do some networking and have a few drinks. (Possibly December 06) We could arrange to take over a Hotel and get some wealthy companies to supply the champers whilst we mill around their equipment talking shop and pulling up sandbags. Those of us that can afford it could stop the night. Those who can't could make other arrangements (Train?)
