The Care Quality Commission (CQC) has stated that medical devices have the lowest rates of compliance when they carry out regulatory compliance audits. The CQC will further develop regulations to become more focussed. All trusts will need to register with the regulator to legally function. Core standards with lowest rate of compliance 6 Core standards were reported by the CQC as having the lowest rates of compliance. 4 of those 6 standards, listed below impact on medical devices management (and therefore patient safety). •C11b - participation in mandatory training •C09 - systematic and planned approach to records management •C04c - reusable medical devices are properly decontaminated •C04b - minimise risks of medical devices Who does?

 ... already! ... but (seeing that you asked), you will find many Indians within the NHS.

No idea - but I am concerned about how much the NHS is failing in these areas.

Geoff, not 'OFF TOPIC' everytime I see a link to CQC, Agenda for change and a lot of other forms it seems that there are more people working outside of the NHS rather than for the NHS.

Quangos? Well yes, but the NHS has (needs) to be regulated somehow. If only they would go about it with a bit more ... vigour!

The Patients Association might be more use, Neil ... and here's why. As I have probably said before ... caring for folk is not about equipment ... it's about er, caring (compassion, being human, giving a damn ... and yes, love). Remember all the talk (and that's about all it ever amounts to ... endless meetings at which the "professionals" can fritter away the day) about "Positive Patient Outcomes"? It's all a load of baloney, Mate. The truth is, that despite all the £££ millions bunged at the NHS, our patients get treated worse than almost any others in the EUSSR (and certainly those in Western Europe).
