After having purchased many Critikon Dinamap NIBP monitors in the past, we are now also considering cheaper alternatives for some areas within the hospital.
One alternative is the Welch Allyn "Spot Vital Signs" unit. Is there anyone out there, who has some experience with this unit?

I have also read the comments regarding the Criticare 506DXN monitors, which is another alternative we may be considering.

Any feedback will be appreciated.

We have six in our Trust purchased over the last couple of years, they seem to work very well, the staff seem to like them.

We have been in much the same position as your-selves. I have no experience of the Welch Allyn units you speak of, although if they are of a similar standard to their other equipment they would worth a looksee. We do have plenty of experience with the Criticare units 'nough said. We are now coming full circle and purchasing the Dinamap (Pro 300 mainly). Many reasons, not least of which is they work..

We have around 40 welch Allyn monitors. Some spot, and some 52000 series.
Neither of these monitors are suited for noenates.
For general ward use:
They are very reliable good battery life.
Very easy to use. Easy to repair.
Nurses like them.

I spoke to Dinamap yesterday. They are bringing me a new nibp monitor try out next week. Looks nice in the photo - and priced to compete with the spot. The proof of the pudding...etc.
