We are currently in the market for 8 new ICU ventilators. We are trialing 4 at the moment:
Drager XL
Servo-I
Galileo
Engstrom Carestation.
Any one got strong opinions about any of the above?
Servicing, reliability etc.

we have the servo i's here and find them an exellent vent the servicing is every 5000hrs(approx once a year) the training and technical help is very good and the spare parts when required normally turn up in a couple of days.

We have Draeger Evita 4 Vents which are similar to the XL. Unfortunately the after sales and technical support leave a lot to be desired. We have had lots of problems with the power supplies which is still ongoing.
The Medical staff seem to like them, although a lot of the functions are not used.

We have a selection of ventilators here at Papworth Hospital which include Servo i, Evita 4 and Galileo. Over the years the Servo i ventilators have proved to be the most reliable and easiest to maintain.

Here in Livingston we use the PB 840. Supplier is Eden Medical and they have been very supportive to us.
The kit is reliable, does not require intensive servicing (great from an ebme point of view) and have recently found out most of the itu consultants in lothian like the 840.

would definately recommend
