Lots more (too much?) about AEM - plus RCM, and all the rest - here. smile

In fact, for those who may be especially interested in this stuff, the HTMC (MPTF)* site itself is pretty outstanding!

I notice that the link offered above no longer works.

However, this one contains much "food for thought" for the student of biomed maintenance!

In simple terms, I think we might say that Evidence-Based PM (EPM) goes beyond Risk-Based PM (RPM) by using KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) to measure maintenance performance. As usual there is preparatory work to be slogged through ... this time it involves deciding upon what KPIs to apply (the document cited gives twenty examples) plus (of course) a set of failure codes (again, the document offers a few).

There seems to have been a progression (evolution) something like:- PPM -> RPM (maybe RCM, AEM) -> EPM. Where will it all end? Anyway, it seems to me that, whichever regime is being followed, it all boils down to maintaining meaningful records whilst carrying out PM work. If the details are there, analysis, useful for "tweaking" the system, can follow (later, if need be).

Has anyone had a go with EPM yet, I wonder?

Anyway, best download the .pdf before it disappears.

Also, here is a cleaner link to the one given at Neil's original post. The AAMI link at post #73938 and the ones in the post above no longer work.
