I wanted to post what would be a new topic about Welch Allyn products but don't know how so this might be the wrong place to put it.

I have several WA SureTemp PLUS 692 thermometers with error E4.8 which indicates the unit needs calibrating. I can't find any information on how to reset this error message after I check the calibration.

Does anyone know how to do the CAL or reset it.

Further to my message I wonder if anyone has a circuit diagram of the 692 thermometer to assist me in following up theory of what might be happening.

Hi Mack

I have sent you a PM of where you can download the service manual as I dont know if you have it. That error, if you look at 3.5.1 it says that you will need see the part no. you require.

The other thing you may try if you havent is to change the probe and restart it. Inside there is maybe a chip that needs resetted as they have a tendancy to subjected to the drop test on the ward.

The guys at welch allyn are good and will talk to you about the fault if you give them a call. The parts are resonably priced aswell.

cheers Billy

Thanks for your reply. I have the service manual but it doesn't contain schematics as earlier models did.
We don't have a Welch Allyn office in NZ only a representing company thay sells their products but they use a private service company who are more interested in promoting their own businesss than helping with technical advice for hospitals that wish to do their own serviceing.
The probe has been changed. It does contain an EEPROM which is interrogated when the probe plug is put in and it reads the EEPROM at which point it decides there is an error and does't allow it to work after that. The data is streaming out of the EEPROM before this point.
