Omron 711 error code 23

I have two omron bp monitors both with the same fault.

They power up fine, but when the start button is pressed error 23 is displayed and the unit switches off.

Does anybody know what this error code means?

Having never encountered this in over 10 years i've now got 3 units in all reading error 23 - strange!

Just a wild guess (straight off the top of my head):- indication that back-up button cell (NV-RAM, whatever) is on its way out? think

Or ... how about:- excessive current being drawn as a worn-out motor tries to start?
