If people leave, the workload will be transferred to those that are left, without extra compensation. Therefore saving money, which was the main objective. The management should look at how 'top' heavy the management system is and introduce cuts and improve efficiency, but that will never happen.

I live in hope but experience shows you are right, Neil. Robert
My spelling is not bad. I am typing this on a Medigenic keyboard and I blame that for all my typos.

But they won't be leaving, will they? Assuming that they want to "continue their careers" (that is, carry on working), where else are they going to go? I can only assume that you're not really up to speed with present day realities in the UK, Neil.

They'll just move between Trusts Geoff, if a neighbouring Trust decides to pay their staff significantly less or another that can't get staff pays a premium you'll just get staff migrating between the two. It's pretty much the reason the NHS employers site warned against regional pay.

Move between Trusts? I thought we were talking about all the Trusts in the south-west banding together on this one? Somehow I can't imagine many folk upping sticks and moving out of the region over just a few quid a week. And - where will they be heading ... London, the Midlands? Many of them would have already "escaped" from such places, I would have thought. Who in their right mind would return to London etc. after sampling the "quality of life" available in places like Exeter, Taunton, Torbay et al? No ... all this talk of people voting with their feet is just hot air. Trust me, I'm Geoff. LOL.

There was talk that one of the Devon Trusts was thinking of pulling out and you also have bordering Trusts that are only a few miles up the road not signed up. There was also one Trust that has said they'd join but not implement any of the terms, but we'll believe that one when we see it.

There's nothing worse than a consortium member getting cold feet. No doubt the rest of the Gang of Four (Five, Six?) will black-ball the flaky Blighters, wot? "A few miles up the road"? Bristol you mean? Who would want to work there?

Ah, Gloucester. A place close to my heart. 1) South West [ ] 2) West [x] 3) South Midlands [ ] But fear not ... with the seemingly inevitable (and certainly not challenged) onward march of the EUSSR, the area to the south (and west) of the Avon will become an Administrative Region, with a new made-up name imposed upon it, with the same lack of autonomy as all other Administrative Regions from there to the western border of Ukraine, and with the same across the board standards at the lowest common denominator. That's what's coming next! But why worry? Be happy! Über-Nanny knows best!
