Alaris GW infusion pump shows "Set bad",which iv set suitable for this model

Only the ones sold by Carefusion/ Alaris for that pump.

Yes, I must agree with RoJo there. My own experiments with the GW failed to defeat the "Bad Set" errors, and it seems that (to my mind at least) this little pump is a little too fussy even when it comes to genuine Alaris giving sets. frown

Hi to all,

the original sets have a small disk "thingie" at the patient side of the hose which needs certain amount of pressure to get the fluid through it. The pump measures the pressure at the patient side of the pump and if it is out of specs it gives "Bad Set" alarm.

The GW seems to decide early on whether to accept the loaded set and carry on the infusion (or not, as the case may be).

I've never been able to work out exactly how it does this, but it has to be using the pressure sensor. It might pump forward at first, load up the sensor to a certain pressure, then reverse the mechanism (back off) for a moment or two, then take a pressure measurement again, and apply some sort of factor in order to assert the compliance of the giving set. In other words, looking at the difference between the two pressure measurements. That would be my guess.

There has to be a go/no-go sensitivity setting there somewhere, and I suspect values must be held at certain memory addresses. But, alas, I have never found out more than that.

these infusion pumps have set the infusion set with protection - original infusion set, this protection is necessary to disable the use of non-original sets.
Furthermore it is necessary in this case to use the liquid drop sensor for safety.
with drop sensor, there are two versions according to age - v1 and v2 v2.při use of sensors for infusion pump with old-version 1 hardware adjustment is necessary, otherwise the drop sensor produces an error, I believe 34th

Using the flow sensor is generally a good idea ... but I have never come across a GW with a flow sensor in veterinary use.

It's been a couple of years since I last had a play with a GW, and I've never tried testing one with a flow sensor attached. Would (does) it improve rate and flow accuracy? think
