This is the only place I can find any discussion about MSE Mistral 2000 centrifuges. I know they are quite old, but I am still seeking help for an issue I am having. It is showing a tacho signal loss error message, which apparently is common, but I am unable to manually open the door, so I cannot try to perform a reset. I do not have the original tool, and have tried a variety of implements to no avail. I can feel and hear the door latch mechanism as I manipulate the implement, but it will not open. Any suggestions?

Welcome to the forum. Perhaps you have already come across this earlier thread. If all else fails, you could always drop an email or PM (Private Message) to Colin or Joe.

Hi Lab Matt. I'm the UK sales guy from Henderson Biomedical - MSE. I am raising your question with our production manager & will get back to you A.S.A.P.
If in the longer term you find that you are struggling with the Mistral 2000 (we stopped making them about 20 years ago), I can offer you some great prices on the successor models: Harrier 15/80 (being phased out, but still supported) and Harrier Plus.
Kind regards, Joe

I understand our technical manager Leroy has in fact got there before me and already sent you an e-mail.
If you have any further problems, feel free to give us a call: 020 8663 4610.
Have a great weekend! Joe

Thank you for the welcome, Geoff.I had indeed come across the thread you mentioned. I have had some helpful responses, although it seems my door latch might be broken. I have been advised that the only way in to the centrifuge would be to cut through the door. Unfortunately, with these models being obsolete, I will not be able to procure any parts for it. This is too bad, as I was only trying to tidy this unit up in order to donate it to a local Humane Society! Oh, well! Thank you Joseph and Leroy, as well!

You can only do so much. But (as it sounds like the 'fuge may now be binned anyway), if you have a little time, you could try drilling a few small (but well-aimed) holes, to see what you might be able to do once you can actually see what's going on. With luck (once you've got the door open) you could then patch it up relatively easily after carrying out the repair(s).

Thank you for the suggestion, Geoff. I will give it a try. I must say I am impressed how quickly I received responses to my post, considering the amount of users and how many different topics are being covered by this forum! I was afraid that I might need to log my post under the "Jokes" forum, because I didn't know if it would be taken seriously. It's rare to find helpful assistance these days, especially on such an obscure subject as a 20+ year old, obsolete piece of equipment! Thanks!

You obviously didn't realise how old *some of us are! Nor that a few of us have a special interest in keeping the (good) old kit running ... especially when it's being donated to a worthy cause. * Speaking for myself, of course.
If you don't inspect ... don't expect.
