How many folk had heard of H. Boyd Woodruff, who has recently died at age 99?

Yet so many across the world owe their lives to him. What a legacy!

I've just heard that Trevor Baylis is no longer with us. RIP. frown

And no, this is not a *wind-up.

Here is some more about Trevor (with some nice comments, as usual). smile

A great little video, too.

Well - we have one as a member on this website - BAM - who invented (and Philips patented) a circuit that gave better dynamic contrast on x-ray TV imaging when you had a fat patient. BAM was building mains line impedance meters long before anybody knew how to make a decent one!

It's been two and a half years since we heard from Brian on here. frown

Has he retired to warmer climes, I wonder? think

Meanwhile ... there are "genius" ideas everywhere you look (plus a fair number of bad ones, of course). smile

Retreated to his Man-Shed, maybe. smile

I'm hoping that Trevor Baylis' workshop gets preserved, by the way.

I hear that Larry Tesler is no longer with us. Larry was famous as the "inventor" of Cut, Copy and Paste, Find and Replace and what-have-you. frown

I'll leave anyone interested to Google* him for themselves. You could also try looking up the Gypsy text editor (word processor); or perhaps better still, check-out this .pdf.

* Other internet search engines may be, and indeed are, available.
