Welcome to the forum, Abdulaziz. smile

I'm sure there must be "chapter and verse" regulations about this stuff ... but (whilst we're waiting for that) have you checked out what other folk in similar circumstances are doing in your locality? think

If you don't inspect ... don't expect.

Ionising Radiation (Medical Exposure) Regulations 2000
Here is the government web site.
But remember this is a UK regulation I expect all countries have their own version of it. I do not know if someone like WHO has international standards

My spelling is not bad. I am typing this on a Medigenic keyboard and I blame that for all my typos.

usually all the ones involved in the radiology department are using the TLD but what confused me that the dental x-ray is a very low energy x-ray and even led sheilding is not applied there so i was confused. the regulation that RoJo linked mentioned nothing about dentists; unless they are concidered as doctors.

Yes, but even "soft rays" get absorbed in tissue, and the harmful effects are accumulated. And it's the "whole life dose" (ie, of the staff) that we're considering here (rather than the occasional blast received by the patient). frown

But to be honest, I think that a lot of this stuff is just continued because "that's the way we always did it". frown

There's no harm in Dental Surgeons and their Assistants wearing a dosimeter or "film badge" ... but has anyone ever heard of anyone getting a "heavy dose" in dental practice? Recently, that is.

"Just stand well back" is my advice. whistle

Maybe this (page 19) will help?

i think the best way to judge is to experemnt on one of the dentist and check the dose he recieved after 3 months then simply we can do the math and judge the risk.

thanks all for you assistance
