Does anyone know where I might find a list of rules that the NHS might have regarding deciding on which suppliers can sell to the NHS?

I have seen the procurement pages of Supply Chain, and they are mostly about not employing slaves or children, not relying on backhanders to get contracts, and a rather limp requirement that suppliers tell Supply Chain that they are manufacturing in an environmentally friendly way! *

What I need to know particularly is:

1. Do Suppliers need indemnity insurance for sold items in a similar way to the requirements for loans to the NHS?
2. Do Suppliers have to carry any kind of certification that shows they have been approved by someone somewhere in the NHS as suppliers?

* "Please say that cloud of oily black smoke/weird blue foam in the local river/hospital full of disfigured local children is nothing to do with your factory - pretty please...".

Hi Clare

From experience I have found the following answers to your questions

1. Yes you need indemnity insurance typically min £5KK

2. Usually you have to complete a pre approval to show that you have all the relevant cert's from the OEM's and you have the relevant ISO certs

Hi Clare,

Are you looking for NHS terms and conditions for procuring goods and services?

It has contract docs for for supply of goods, provision of services, etc.

Oggie - that's what I thought, though I thought it was £5 million. As to the pre-acceptance assurances, I still have to find those.

Tejas - that was exactly what I had in mind - thank you!

Goodness me but I had a frustrating time googling for what I needed. All manner of private companies with a little NHS sticker on their websites claim to be "in charge" of one thing or another that sounds as if it is the thing you want, but ends up being entirely other...

I've got some reading to do now. rolleyes
