Hi, Has anyone found a source for replacement DC sockets for the Propulse III or NG? It's the reverse to the normal DC socket and has the pin in the plug, not the socket.
I think I've found the manufacturer (Philmore Mfg part no 213) and can find some suppliers in the USA (eg http://www.vetco.net/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=12267), but nothing in the UK.
Maybe there's an equivalent by another manufacturer that I haven't found - and ideas?

I've spoken to Mirage and they can't supply the PCB anymore even though they only stopped manufacturing the unit about 9 months ago and, according to their PPQ, would guarantee availability for 10 years after! What's the point of a PPQ? I guess that's a whole new topic!

Any help would be much appreciated!

Regards,

Andrew.

The PPQ has always served no purpose whatsoever, as far as I recall, Andrew.

In other words, what's the point in having "rules" (tick-boxes?) if they are not enforced? frown

Meanwhile, have you tried eBay?

BTW: I believe that the plug you mention may be known as a C2 ... whilst the socket is known on the Street as a "Sony C1"!

See if you can find anything useful under "Lumberg" on the Farnell site. smile

For reference, also see the Hosiden catalogue (.pdf) - their UK address is on the last page.

Meanwhile, it looks like the sockets in question are properly described as JEITA* RC-5320A ... (we learn something new every day)!

Thanks Geoff.

I had already found the Lumberg ones in Farnell, but they are slightly different - the original ones have a round through-case protrusion.

I have since found them from MCM Electronics in the States (http://www.mcmelectronics.com/product/27-5892). They are a sister-site of Farnell & CPC, so I have emailed them to see if they can acquire them for the UK!
