Sadly, Sir Clive Sinclair is no longer with us.

A tireless, clever inventor and entrepreneur - famous for what we might call "innovative" marketing techniques; with his passing, I doubt we shall see his like again.

RIP Sir Clive.

Thousands of British youngsters of the 1970's and 80's had their first taste of coding on one or other of his (cheap) computers. And many of us are still coding today. On a personal note, my first (electronic) calculator was a Sinclair "Cambridge" (before that, we were using slide rules)! And the first computer I could claim as my own was a ZX-80.

Lots of Sinclair stuff here ... some of it a bit out of date now, though.

Yep, a genius guy and a sad loss.

On other sites I have seen commentators making fun of the C5 - a venture that saw Clive losing £ 7 million of his own money (in 1985 - that would be about £ 18 million today).

And yet, living in a seaside town (OK, lots of retired folk about), every second person I meet is on a battery-powered electric mobility "scooter"* (chariot?) ... many exercising the dog as they trundle along!

So, yet again, perhaps Clive was ahead of his time.

Although, to be honest, most of these folk would need a bit of help getting into (and out of) a C5.

* If I were younger, I reckon it would interesting (not to mention profitable) to get involved in servicing and repairing these things. There are three "mobility" shops in this medium-sized town.
