I have been asked by a certain ex-REME "Med & Dent" bloke (who is seemingly too idle to come on here himself) to enquire about the whereabouts of Les Hart (also ex-REME, and mentioned a couple of times in this thread).

I last saw Les myself back in the summer of 2005, when he was pottering about at the Hinchingbrooke Hospital in *Huntingdon.

Does anyone have contact details for Les? think

Where have all the Old Sweats gone (the "regulars" we used to hear from on the forum on a more-or-less daily basis)?

Surely they can't all have retired? think

And even if they have ... that's no excuse!

Nice to be called an old sweat, anyhow I have started a debate on LinkedIn, should IT departments be split into 2 divisions
1) Health Informatics
2) General Office

For me the Health Informatics should be a separate department staffed by both BME & IT, leave it to others to debate.

No ... all technical services in the hospital should come under the Technical Services Director ... with an "Old Sweat" biomed in that position! smile

I have never understood the Big Deal about "computers". If someone such as myself (a main-stream biomed tech, largely self-taught, of humble background, and limited attainment) can "hack" them, then any biomeds worth their salt should be able to take them in their stride - especially all the "clever" (degree-laden) young thrusters who have supposedly taken over these days.

Doom on all boiler mechanics, "ex-chefs", so-called IT "wizards" ... and other such pretenders! Everyone knows that Biomeds Rule (as the Princes of the Hospital) - that's why everyone else was always so jealous, and keen to plot against us [me] and plot against our [my] downfall! whistle

On a slightly different tack ... I see that the "Brams" in Arborfield has come up for grabs.

Probably a different clientele these days, though. whistle

Just reminiscing about my old biomed days.
Anybody from the ex IAL lads remaining from the 80’s at King Hussain Medical Centre, Jordan?

Big Tony was there. whistle

But what we really need to know, Angus, is ... are you still in Tripoli? think
