We had parking permits forced on us in September after several decades of free parking. Their ("de management") excuse was that because we have merged with the other major trust in the city they had to harmonise charges across the entire trust. This is pure nonsense; our hospital covers a huge area in a low rent part of the city with plenty of space for parking. The other major hospital is a high rise building hemmed into a site close to the city centre. But we are being charged the same c.£260 p.a. with no guarantee of a space.

Can't use the Uni car park anymore, well not since the Prof threatened to sack to me anyway frown so we have to park with the other plebs in the main car park now. Still the 10 minute walk does my excessive girth good (or so they tell me) It's funny though how the Radition Protection dept who are also employed by the NHS got permits for the Uni car park. mad mad mad

P.S. Good to see you're still on the Anti English rant rolleyes

We don't pay...yet...but we have been given notice that charging is being looked at so that everyone has to pay, not just the visitors/customers. They are also talking about adding a deck to one of the car parks to increase the capacity so no doubt this will be the excuse for the charges.

My rant is not anti english. Me - a staunch unionist. I wouldn't dare - my dear wife is English. Anyway she is taking me out for a birthday meal tonight. Did I tell you it's now officially 12 months to go and counting? I'm begining to use the word last an awful lot now. As in last christmas in the NHS etc. shades cool

At Hereford we pay £80 to park in a multi-storey 10 minutes walk away; as a rural Trust there is a distinct lack of public transport, resident's parking schemes surround the hospital and there is very restricted parking on site, for the "few"

Don't forget "we've never had it so good".

Here we dont pay for parking and neither do the vistors, which I believe is the only trust in Birmingham to offer this! And we are in the city, on the edges of Bournville, which is a very sought after area.

Bus stops right outside also, which is how I get here.

(To be realistic, there's not enough parking and it can be difficult to park in the middle of the day.)

My understanding is that as part of patient choice, parking costs will be made available to patients before they choose where their treatment centre will be.
One of the others is infection rates.
