As for the satelite tracking I think the little box would be meggered or left on the driveway. It would also be hacked within 10 minutes and the hacker could muck around with your settings. Plus as it would be linked to the GPS system that the americans own we are at their beck and call again.

Scrap the road tax, tolls and whatever other motorist stealth tax put a penny on a litre and they would recoup all the money without the expense of collecting it, plus as what has already been said catch all the rad tax dodgers. No hefty bills once a year (mine due just before christmas).

Meanwhile, people are moaning on about the futility of it all, as China commissions another coal-fired power station every week (- nice work)! Of course they do, now that they, rather than us have beome the 'workshop of the world'. Anybody been to Sheffield this century? Notice how lovely and clean it is - and how people don't cough the way they used to? Just a thought. smile

Only when you are impatient and double submit.
...and it does tend to be you Geoff wink

Afterthought. I am actually quite fed up of the way things are working on the server - and I'm testing new software at the mo'.

Instead of perl/flatfile it is php/MySQL

Take a look here https://www.ebme.co.uk/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=cfrm

Feel free to post and muck around - it won't go live for some time.

Let me know if you get the double post issue again.

Personaly, I think the EBME website is probably the most imformative of its kind. It covers just about all that I want to know in its various forums over a wide range of topics.
Keep up the good work, not just Huw, who seems do do all the hard work, but all those who contribute to make it interesting, informative and helpful.

Hi Huw,

Off-topic a bit, I'm afraid. As you know (?), I am more patient than most, and have tried various ways to avoid the dreaded double post. For your information, I do all my internet stuff from internet caf's, in various locations. I usually use FireFox if it's available. Just had a quick look at the 'new site'. First impressions are that it looks cool. I reckon that any site like this one probably needs to be 'freshened up' a bit every couple of years or so. I'll have a more detailed play when time permits. Lots of work, I know. And I can only second Graham's remarks. smile

I saw my first Y2K bug today.

We were having problems getting some CADD prizms through the IDA, so I dug out the old sartorius scales and loaded up the old Windows 98 software.

All the dates were 1900!

Why am I telling you this? Because you have to upgrade software.

By the way Alan I think that double post is backing up Geoffs argument that something is wrong wink

Never seems to happen to me though confused

... better late than never, Mate. The only Y2K bug I came across that affected me personally was with FormTool (an old DOS favourite). The only way to proceed was to reset the system date to a bygone age, use FormTool, and put the clock back to the future afterwards. Yes software should not be cast in stone, as it were. That's the beauty of it, really. Infinitely tweak-able! Pity that end-users have been lead to believe that it's all for free, though! smile
