Hi Guys, Sorry to be asking for advice yet again!. In our trust we own a lot of both the QA3 and QA4 trollies. Unbeknown to us in EBME they have been experiencing "issues" with staining of the mattresses during a weekly audit of them and now they have no where to go with it it has dropped into our laps. Initial comms with the company suggest that there is no need to rawl the cover off and inspect them and that this may be possibly giving rise to damage to the fabric .Other comments were that they may be heat marks! How do other trusts deal with cleaning of these etc and is anyone else having issues. it stands to reason that if we do not check, we will not find. thanks in advance for any advice given. Have a lovely day

This takes me back to the days of working at another trust and being one of the first casualties of the then newly formed CQC. We got picked up for the same thing, wasn't a problem before as we were never asked to inspect them. But now almost every trust cleans the larger mattresses but forget about the smaller trolley ones. The trolleys get hammered as shelves, storage, Needle holder, transport device, and maybe every now and then you might see a patient on them, normally for about 24 hours down a corridor. We ended up having an inspection schedule drawn up for weekly checks. Simply grade what is suitable (photo on the wall helps) and what is classed as replaceable. They do get run through the hedges and not uncommon the be replaced several times over a year. Normally just the cover and Anetic Aid will be able to do you a deal on those.
30 years since the Chernobyl disaster and yet we still have no super heroes or zombies.

Good afternoon,
Maintenance/removal/replacement may be under EBME, cleaning is usually done by the housekeeping department when the bedding is replaced.
