My comrades, I am aware there are a number of regional EBME groups congressing every few months. Is it not, my friends, possible for a member of each group to contact John Sandham and see what this steering group is a about. I know there are hints that this group has a slightly “Maverick”origin, but it is a real chance to get together on a national scale with full representation for us all.

Oh geist, my friends, absolute ostentation. laugh

I could not agree with John more, with regards to the ebme issue we do need people that have time and committment.
However I would like to think that any subject matter that is discussed by the steering group and put forward for representation, should be regarded as the thoughts of the members of the group only and not the opinion of the masses unless you can give a percentage of the populas in ebme depts that have agreed or disagreed with your thoughts."does that make sense"!!!
As regards lager I wish you all the lick in the world but I havent tasted one yet thats worth drinking.
I prefer the old apple plonk me self.

Karl, my cider swilling friend, if we had a man from each of our regional groups in Johns gang we could give a percentage of the populas in ebme depts. Surely then, we will have a say in the subject matter, do you not think?

Louis,
I assure you that the steering group is in no way whatsoever 'maverick'.

The current members are all members of this forum and come from Medical Physics/EBME depts around the country. The first meeting of the group was at the EBME Educational symposium in June. Anyone who chairs/represents a regional group would be ideal to join this steering group. Once we have something worth publishing on this forum, I assure you we will. Unfortunately, the first meeting was only to dicuss our terms of reference, we didn't want to clash with anything already being done by other groups, and are mainly concerned with operational strategies and policies, with a view to helping other depts improve their lot.
The current membership is very representative and with the groups permission, we will publish names and contact details after our Sep meeting. Anyone wishing to join can give me a call on 01279 827533 or e-mail john@ebme.co.uk smile As I said previously on this forum, you should be willing to put some time into policy and strategy development and be able to meet 3/4 days a year. The current membership are all NHS medical equipment departmental managers.
smile
