Paul Can I have a copy too, Fax 01279 626944 Our group is running 'badly' because we are so fantastically good at looking after them they tend not to turn up. You may be able to give me some ideas to get the menbers of the group to take it more seriously. Thanks

Hi Paul - me too ! Fax No. 0161 419 5301 We're just trying to get one together and deciding who should be on it and who should run it.
Today is the day you worried about yesterday - and all is well !

As part of improving ewquipment management, our ebme/supplies user group is going through DB9801 to see how much can be implemented within our trust. It seems like a worthwhile exercise, and will raise the profile of the department within the trust.

Hi John ! Yes, we did an in-depth evaluation of HEI98 for exactly the same reason - back in 1982 - and guess what ? Nothing happened ! So we did it all again in 1992 (or whenever it was re-printed) - and guess what ? Nothing happened ! Now were doing it all over again with DB9801 via the Controls Assurance vehicle - and guess what - I'm still holding my breath !

Roy When we looked at Purchasing in DB9801 (as part of the user group remit), we decided to combine the Supplies user group with the EBME user group, and called it the EBME/Supplies user group. (surprise, surprise). This has helped with attendance and also problems between ebme and supplies, such as Pre-purchase questionaires are now done properly. i.e. I sign the approval BEFORE the equipment is ordered. Many a time in the past, we received equipment before the PPQ. Our closer relationship with supplies has made a huge difference. (something worth considering)

Here at Colchester we have combined the supplies and equipment purchasing discussions to a forum working under the title 'Clinical Products Review Group'. It was originally intended purely for clinical products, but later (1995) went on to include medical equipment. It is chaired by our Principle Pharmacist (I think that's still his title) and is included in the Trust's Standing Financial Instructions. A close working relationship has developed here too between Supplies and EBME where PPQs are received in advance of ordering. Requests for unknown equipment also raise questions on suitability and issues of standardisation. When it works it works well!
P.S. Thanks, John, for the acknowledgement in the Keymed discussion.
