Looking for a bit of help. We have a Seca CT6i ECG machine whos printout starts to fade, but only on the top few lines, the rest of the waveforms are fine. Has anybody seen this and can help or failing that does anyone have a copy of the user or service manual that might explain how to clean the printer head.

Thanks.

Check the part of the printer casing that holds the print head in place, it may be broken at one end. I came across this on a portable ECG machine ( not the same brand as yours ) once and had trouble trying to get the details of replacement parts!

It's probably due to warping of the plastic lid. Or perhaps a broken (or twisted, worn etc.) clip as Jonathan mentions. It could also be due to an over-tightened screw having stripped a thread somewhere. You might even be lucky and find a loose screw that can then be tightened! Either way you'll probably find that the end of the print head strip is not making proper contact with the paper. Such are the "benefits" of making machines out of plastic! Try applying a little pressure over the affected area whilst printing to see if the missing trace appears. Then think of a way of overcoming the problem! smile

Thanks legofrenzy, managed to fix it by giving the print head a good clean, at least nobody has phoned back to moan about it again. I was just a bit concerned that it seemed to only happen in one particular area of the page.
