Actually, it's better than that; with Morse you can "speak" to almost the whole population of the world (as long as they use the English alphabet together with accented letters, pro signs and punctuation marks). Russians and Japanese are a bit of a problem though. whistle

Morse Translator: smile

Try this one:-

Code
- .... . / --.- ..- .. -.-. -.- / -... .-. --- .-- -. / ..-. --- -..- / .--- ..- -- .--. ... / --- ...- . .-. / - .... . / .-.. .- --.. -.-- / -.. --- --.

I've never really got on with sending Morse, myself. Not sure why; I've never been able to put my finger on it.

Today (April 27th) is Morse Code Day, to commemorate the birthday (1791) of Samuel Morse.

Or as Mr. Morse might say:-

Code
.... .- .--. .--. -.-- / -... .. .-. - .... -.. .- -.-- / - --- / -.-- --- ..- --..-- / .... .- .--. .--. -.-- / -... .. .-. - .... -.. .- -.-- / - --- / -.-- --- ..- .-.-.-

Morse versus SMS. smile

Morse trivia:- part of the theme tune to the (once) popular British TV show "Some Mothers Do 'Ave 'Em" was the title of the show in Morse.

Hi Geoff,
Hope you are well. Still like to keep my hand in on the old "Morris code" but not as quick as I used to be. Just thought I'd put a link to a place you may want to visit:
https://www.internalfire.com/
Tons of old school steam engines, a Proteus powered generator, some marine communications displays (I recently swapped some of my Marconi kit with them) and even an old strowger system telephone exchange! The guys that run it are great and it really is a great day out especially if they have some kit "in steam," I was privileged to have access to their store of future projects. Looks like a Deltic and Bristol Centaurus were lurking.
regards
Ed

Nice *one, Ed. smile

Maybe we need to start a new thread:- Steam!

* I had wondered what had become of George Galloway!

Meanwhile, back to Morse.

Lastly, if anyone wants a bit of receiving practice ... try here (needs Windows Media Player). Also here (for beginners).
