Hi All
Thanks for the interest, I have been looking into the issue of CT training as it stands at the moment and what is going on around the country. I know about Capital training centre and Eastwood etc. I know the courses are very good. I have also found a couple of CT degree courses. I have read the Ipem prospectus, but there is very little else on their website regarding accredited training centres.I have found one reference to a consortium of Ebme depts.that has set up a training centre.
The problem with the variety of jobs, let alone equipment types make any CT degree course very difficult to plan.
I attended a meeting in London along with Paul Butler to discuss the impact of registration etc on Ebme departments. It will prove very problematical to produce a graduate that will be fit to practice or indeed even to get somebody to run a degree course. The APEL route where someone comes in with experience or lower qualifications and then converts is equally difficult.
I am waiting to see the public consultation document which is due out soon, this will lay out what registration is all about and give us a chance to have our say, although whether CTs will be included this time is in debate. The other stumbling block at the moment is that we are unable to see the scope of practice document which will lay out what it is we are supposed to be able to do.
I am not looking to set up a training centre at the moment, too many unknowns, a lot of work for possibly no reward. I was mearly testing the water.
