There seems to be a little bit of harping on this "only one device taught" point, but that's not really the case.
The e-learning package is not specific to any device, but is really very generic. The theoretical assessment is also generic and tests the learner's knowledge on drug calculations, device safety, gravity devices, volumetric devices and syringe devices (and probably more that I can't remember!). This is all transferrable and applicable to the learner giving any infusion.
The practical assessment must be done on one syringe pump and one volumetric, this is only logical, as you can appreciate. You choose which devices they are assessed on, depending on what is available in your Trust. The assessment criteria are very robust and do not test specifics of that device, but instead test the user's application of the safe use of infusion devices in practice.
I don't mean to sound like I'm advocating all Trusts running this program- we won't be here (after the pilot), but that has nothing to do with the content of the course. It is excellent. It's cost and logistics that are going to get in everyone's way.
