The North West is particularly badly hit by the shortage I know, but we've just had our first Fax (from a company called Afos) informing us that they can't get an engineer on site if we have a breakdown, because of the petrol shortage. Our Trust is making emergency plans for using staff vehicles which run on diesel and have already taken some of the official vehicles off the road to conserve fuel. As an "essential user" I have been told to use my vehicle for emergencies only and everyone is being asked to let their managers know what alternatives they can use if their vehicles are off the road. Essential supplies are being stockpiled and at least one of our regular delivery companies has warned us that they may not be able to maintain their service.
What's happening in other parts of the country ?
