From my experience the Cobe while quicker gave a higher percentage of patient problems, especially citrate reactions. Also isn't the cobe a two arm procedure.
As well as maintaning Haemonetics units (V50, MCS3P, MCS+) I was also a platelet donor. While having one arm out of action with a line in is not really an issue - you can still scratch your nose, two arms would do my head in.
There is only really one special tool required for the Haemonetics now that the vacuum chuck is replaced.
