BTEC Advanced Award in Biomedical Equipment Maintenance (Level 3)
Eastwood Park is pleased to offer this unique two-week advanced training programme aimed at relatively new entrants to the field of biomedical equipment maintenance in the healthcare sector. Successful participants will be awarded a Level 3 BTEC Advanced Award in Biomedical Equipment Maintenance by Edexcel, subject to satisfactory completion of practical exercises and achievement of satisfactory marks in module examinations.
The course is now available as two one-week modules, enabling delegates to choose either to complete the course on two consecutive weeks, or to return to their workplace for a number of weeks between modules.
The course covers the medical applications, principles of operation and generic performance and safety tests applicable to a wide range of medical electronic equipment. Particular emphasis is placed on the interaction of the equipment with human physiology and on hazards associated with the use or maintenance of biomedical equipment. As such, the course will provide an excellent foundation for those wishing to pursue a career in this area of clinical technology and aspiring towards professional registration in the future. It will also prove invaluable to those pursuing accreditation via S/NVQs, since the programme covers many of the underpinning knowledge requirements and provides valuable practical experience relevant to the Level 3 National Occupational Standards in Servicing Medical Equipment (please contact Eastwood Park for full details).
The course contains a large practical element, with participants spending approximately one third of the course learning hours carrying out structured projects designed to reinforce and consolidate information gained from classroom sessions and contained in the comprehensive course notes. Practical work is carried out in our dedicated workshops using a comprehensive range of up-to-date biomedical test equipment. Topics covered in each module are listed below.
