bhp and PS are essentially the same, but nowadays it is normal to measure the engine/car power output in KW.
Just to be correct 1 bhp is in fact 1.1 PS.
Manufacturers were reluctant to use bhp as soon as PS became well known as obviously it gave an impression of greater power!
