Can anyone explain to me the difference between a Technician (a term that has suited me for the last decade or three) and a "Technologist".
It may help to think of a Technologist as a skilled
user of technology (specialist, lab tech, radiographer
etc.), and a Technician as a practitioner (engineer, designer, integrator, supporter, maintainer).
Power user
versus "hands-on" (geek)! Or, if you prefer, one breaks the kit, whilst the other fixes it.
Where to draw the line? Easy ... which of the two would open up the machine?
Best stick with technician.
