It may help to think of a Technologist as a skilled user of technology (specialist, lab tech, radiographer etc.), and a Technician as a practitioner (engineer, designer, integrator, supporter, maintainer).

Power user versus "hands-on" (geek)! Or, if you prefer, one breaks the kit, whilst the other fixes it.

Where to draw the line? Easy ... which of the two would open up the machine?
